Malcolm owns the practice with Joyce, and is our equine clinical lead. He graduated from Cambridge University. He has a wealth of experience, and has a particular interest in ophthalmology, and holds a certificate in equine practice. Malcolm also worked for 6 years as a Practice Standards Inspector, which involves ensuring the highest standards in veterinary practices across the country.
Joyce owns the practice with Malcolm, and is our small animal clinical lead. Joyce is a Glasgow graduate, and is an incredibly experienced vet. There is not much she has not seen before! She particularly enjoys soft tissue surgery and interesting medicine cases. Outside of work Joyce is kept busy looking after her three dogs, Fergus, Phoebe and Clarrie.
Debbie has worked at Galtres for many years, and now works for us part time, spending the rest of her time with her family in Derbyshire. Debbie has many years experience and enjoys both small animal and equine work, and has particular interest in equine lameness work-ups. Outside of work Debbie is kept busy looking after daughter Abbie, and looking after her horse Douglas.
Emily is originally from Thirsk, and after graduating from Nottingham University spent a short while working on the Yorkshire coast, before returning to home to work at Galtres. Emily enjoys both equine and small animal, and has particular interests in equine gastroscopy and gastric ulcers, and small animal medicine. Outside of work Emily has a very naughty cat called KitKat, who was hand-reared from a kitten at the surgery, and a very spoilt cavalier King Charles spaniel called Winston!
Alice graduated from Liverpool University, and enjoys both equine and small animal work. She has a particular interest in equine dentistry, and completed further training in this at University. Alice also enjoys small animal surgery. Alice is originally from Whitley Bay, but is enjoying exploring Yorkshire, alongside her new Border Terrier Ernie, who you may meet at the practice!
Lucy has worked for Galtres for many years, and after a short stint away having her children, she is now back working for us part time. Lucy is very experienced in both equine and small animals. She holds a certificate in Equine Internal Medicine, and performs our equine anaesthetics. She also has a particular interest in racehorse work. Outside of work Lucy is kept busy with her 2 children Hew and Willow, and a selection of racehorses and ponies!
Nirvana is our newest vet to join the practice, having joined us in 2021. She is a graduate of Edinburgh University, and works on both the small animal and equine sides of the practice. Her caring and cheerful approach is already proving very popular with both staff and clients, despite originally being a southerner!
